I acknowledge the grief and trauma that Indigenous communities are experiencing as more children’s graves are “discovered” at the sites of closed Canadian Residential Schools. The elders in these communities and those participating in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada have been telling Canadians for decades about the horrors they experienced.
Now finally, we are listening? I am writing this post on July 1, 2021, Canada Day. As a Canadian, I am ashamed. We need to do better.
